What Type of Implants Are Used in a Teeth in a Day Treatment?

The Difference in Implants Used for Regular Dental Implants vs. Teeth in a Day
The process of having teeth in a day inserted is different than the typical implants procedure. If you’re just having a few teeth throughout your mouth surgically replaced, one titanium rod is used for each replacement tooth.
However, with teeth in a day, 4 titanium rods are used per mouth arch – with the posterior 2 implants angled so that they don’t enter into the sinus cavity. Rather than having one tooth crown screwed into each implant, computer-generated images help Dr. Tsvetov to create a bridge of tooth crowns, which are screwed into each of the 4 titanium rods per arch of the mouth.
Who is a Candidate for Teeth in a Day?
The following types of Riverside County patients are typically candidates for teeth in a day dental implants:
- Patients who are missing all or most of their teeth in an upper and/or lower arch
- Patients who have mostly unsalvageable teeth, where it wouldn’t make sense to invest time and money to preserve the remaining teeth
- Patients who have advanced stages of periodontal disease, where teeth are very loose, shifting, or falling out
- Patients with dentures who either don’t like them or have a difficult time tolerating them, such as denture patients with a severe gag reflex
How Long Does it Take to Have Teeth in a Day Placed?
As the name suggests, teeth in a day can be completed in just 1 day! However, if you’re having both arches of teeth replaced, Dr. Tsvetov generally recommends his Riverside County patients spread the procedure out over the course of a week. You can come in on week 1 for the upper arch of teeth to be placed, and on week 2 to get the lower arch of implants placed. It’s that quick and easy!
Is the Teeth In a Day Recovery Process Different Because of the Types of Implants Placed?
Teeth in a day recovery is different than typical dental implants because of the type of implants placed. However, since your surgical site is much larger than if you were just replacing 1 or 2 missing, diseased, or fractured teeth, you can expect your recovery process to be more involved.
Usually, recovery from teeth in a day includes:
- Swelling and bruising of the treated arch for about 1 week
- Immediate follow up appointments the 1st and 2nd week after your arch was replaced
- Follow up appointments monthly for the first 2 to 6 months after teeth in a day placement
After 6 months, you’re released back into your Riverside County general dentist’s care, who performs a dental cleaning on your dental implants by unscrewing them from your mouth, cleaning them, and then screwing them back in.
